In 1919, the Feinbloom brothers established the company known as “Champion”.
The business of outfitting apparel for universities began in and the first partnership was Michigan University: Soon after, Champion’s reputation for quality sportswear started to spread across the U.S.
In the 1930’s the company was renamed Champion Knitting Mills Inc.
It became the brand of choice for college bookstores across America.
The Champion brand was adopted by the US Military academy to be used during training exercises and physical education classes.
During the 1940’s the neck labels started to change and by the 80’s they evolved into the classic red and blue fonts on a white background.
Champion continue to be innovative creating the Hooded Sweatshirt, the Double Sided (or reversible) T-Shirt and a “Breathable” Nylon Mesh fabric.
The original, heavyweight and understated line of Sweatshirts, Tee Shirts, Sweatpants and Shorts, all bearing the iconic Champion “C” logo, were introduced to a new generation of consumers proving yet again that there can be many contenders, but only one Champion.
